CNG and LPG both are two different forms of gases, which are now normally getting used by us in our daily life, especially LPG. Both gases are different from each other but prior to knowing the difference one should know about both.

What Is CNG?

CNG(Compressed Natural Gas) is mostly getting used by people in vehicles instead of petrol and diesel because it is the most economical, efficient, and greener fuel. For making this gas the Methane gas gets compressed down to 1% or less than 1% of its volume. The best part about using the CNG is that it does not contaminate the groundwater because it is of non-toxic nature which makes it much safer than diesel and gasoline fuels. It is the most environmentally friendly fuel which can reduce pollution at a huge rate because the usage of CNG reduces the emission of carbon monoxide at a rate of approximately 90 to 97 percent.

What Is LPG?

LPG(Liquefied Petroleum Gas) the most commonly used fuel for cooking, heating, transport. It can’t be produced on its own but we can produce it naturally with a combination of crude oil and natural gas and is a fossil fuel. In it, the liquid volume is 1/250 from the gas which makes it very easy for transport.

CNG

LPG

It mainly gets used in automobiles as a fuel as a replacement for petrol and diesel.

It is mainly gets used for cooking purposes, heating, apart from this it also gets used in agricultural things as well as in industries.

It mainly gets obtained by compressing the Methane.

It mainly gets obtained by butane and propane.

It is the best environmental fuel which produces a very less rate of greenhouse gasses in comparison to LPG.

In comparison to CNG, it produces a large number of greenhouse gasses, carbon dioxide.

It is quite safe fuel because it gets dissolved into the air very fast and disappears.

It is not that much safest because in comparison to the air it is much heavier and is highly flammable.

We can obtain it from the coal, bed methane, oil wells, and also from the wells of natural gas.

We can mainly obtain it by the process of extraction from the natural gas from the reservoirs.

Apart from the above differences, CNG is much economical than LPG but the LPG has a much calorific value than CNG.
